On The Record’s 3rd Anniversary Party!!

Superior Siren is an eerie folk project created by singer-songwriter Laura Sellner. The music offers an alluring expression of vulnerability and desire, with inspiration from Lake Superior and Siren mythology. When Sellner joined forces with cellist Rachel Gobin, bassist Nyssa Krause, and drummer Emma Deaner a sisterhood of sirens was formed. For the past nine years they crafted a mesmerizing blend of vocals, strings, and percussion. The band recently welcomed violinist and Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Erin Aldridge, creating an all the more captivating sound and performance. Superior Siren is not for the faint of heart, and will enchant those who dare to listen.

Makwawigwamikwe Marlena Boedigheimer was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota and is a member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She began playing the tenor saxophone at age 14, inspired after hearing the instrument sampled on Pete Rock and CL Smooth’s “T.R.O.Y”.

Marlena is primarily focused on making music that embodies concepts of Indigenous Futurism through what many would recognize as “free jazz”. Her projects center around the use of the Ojibwe language, Anishinaabemowin, as well as stories from her relatives and ancestors, aiming to raise awareness of the history of her people and the contemporary Ojibwe world. She has performed and recorded with Mato Wayuhi, The Tewa, and other contemporary Indigenous artists across a variety of genres.

Lee Clark Allen is an independent multi-genre, singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer whose music bridges the timeless warmth of classic soul with the contemporary edge of modern/Alternative R&B. His sound blends jazz, blues, rock, funk, gospel, pop, and hip-hop to create something both fresh and familiar. He has been likened to Frank Ocean, Daniel Caesar, Moses Sumney, Anderson .Paak, Marvin Gaye, and others by music professionals and literary critics. His debut EP, Little Rock, introduced his signature style of smooth, groove-driven melodies paired with introspective, heartfelt lyrics, which earned a "Top Album" honor by a prestigious literary music magazine in 2019. With his multi-genre Alternative R&B released LP, My World Is Yours, Allen expands his sonic palette, showcasing deeper textures and a refined approach to songwriting and production.

Fronted by vocalists Jenna Harting and Lisa Wentworth, Mid Dream cranks out upbeat pop-punky anthems, soul searching ballads, and some things decidedly neither. With Rachel Riefenberg on drums, Matt Prois on bass, Alex Nelson on keys, and Bryan Wentworth toeing the line between lead guitar and synthscape, their tunes are filled with compelling textures and powerful harmonies.

In early 2024, songwriters Jenna, Rachel, Bryan, and Lisa (who also picks up rhythm guitar) started jamming in the Wentworth family basement. In the summer, Alex answered a cryptic invitation and joined them. Matt wasn’t far behind.

With Nate Pykkonen and Isaac Smith on guitar, Nate Rendulich on drums, and Dalton Hanson fronting the band on bass, their sound is filled with intricate rhythms, unexpected harmonic changes, and satisfying riffs. All of that combined with their stage presence and musicality has made them a staple of our local music scene.

Dedicated to the musicality and resilience of reggae music and culture, Al Pajamas, Natty Nico, and guests DJs will be curating the good vibes afterparty inside the taproom - In Cinemascope! The vinyl-only DJ’s will be live-dubbing over vintage film projected on the Crown Jewel screen.
